note sidewalk 2Okay some 90 people have been honored with notes (82notes are in cement now and 9 more coming) and some of them are household names…but…well some aren’t.  Thankfully the good folks at The Downtowner Magazine are devoting a fair chunk of the February issue to short bios on each and every honoree. Space limitations make the 91 bios short, but you can at least get a feel for the rich and diverse musical heritage of Memphis area music. And, wow, some great stories they are!

On this very web site –  find the “pages” column on the right side of the front page and scroll down to Beale Street Brass Note walk of Fame — you can find even more information about these musicians, promoters, managers, DJs, and supporters who have contributed to Memphis music.

The brass note project began in 1986 shortly after John Elkington and Performa Entertainment Real Estate redeveloped this historic but imperiled national treasure.

Come join us on Saturday, February 13, at 1:00 for a walking tour of the notes led by Jimmy Ogle. The free tour will begin inside the historic Daisy Theater.
